Tea Leaf Pattern Quilt
By Leah Wolcott and Holly Fortier
Quilting for me is an expression of both cultural and family traditions. I feel a link back to the American pioneer women who thriftily provided warmth and love for their families with the quilts they created from scraps. The pieces for this “tea leaf” pattern quilt were cut out by my mother in the 1940’s, but its assembly was delayed by the births of her four children. I had the privilege of helping her hand stitch the blocks when she was in her 90’s. I continue this tradition by sewing baby quilts for the new babies in our family and love the idea of snuggling each little one in a piece of my art.
