Sharpening and Repair Service
Sharpening and Repair Service
Our sharpening and repair service is one of the most important ways we have of showing how much we appreciate your interest in our products. We are proud to be able to offer these quality services to you.
Gingher offers sharpening and repair service for all Gingher brand products. Regrettably, we are not able to make this service available for other brands of scissors and shears due to differences in manufacturing and hardware. This service is recommended for any damaged Gingher product. We also recommend that you not use the shears for cutting paper, as this will dull the blades and make cutting fabric more difficult.
The sharpening and repair service normally takes between 3 - 4 weeks. Items sent in for repair will be restored to functionally new condition. It is not possible to restore the appearance to that of a new product.
The current charge for the sharpening and repair service for domestic U.S. customers is $8.00 U.S. per pair. For International customers the current charge is $30 U.S. via U.S. mail. International customers wishing to use FedEx will be charged $40 U.S. Please make checks payable to Forveson Corp. These charges are averages based on shipping charges provided by Gingher. The charge is the same for any model of Gingher scissors, shears, thread nippers or pinking shears. This fee covers any necessary repair or adjustment , parts, return packaging, and return shipping. Simply pack up your item or items and enclose a check or money order for the correct amount. International customers must send a bank check in U.S. dollars or a check drawn on a U.S. funds account.
Please be sure to package the items so that the points will not come through the packaging on the way to us.

Tips and hints
Selecting the right scissors for the right task is critical for optimum results and avoiding damage to your scissors. Only the safety point pocket scissors, featherweight household shears or one of the paper craft scissors are designed for cutting paper. All other scissors are designed for cutting fabric and/or thread.
To avoid damage to the blade setting, never force a cut if you sense resistance. You may be using the wrong tool for the task, or your scissors or shears may need sharpening or repair.
Store your scissors carefully using a fitted sheath or case.
Be sure to fasten pins outside the cutting area to avoid encountering hard metal or plastic objects that might damage the scissors.
Periodically wipe the inside blade surfaces to keep them free of lint; add a small drop of household oil at the assembly point to maintain smooth cutting action.
Consider applying a light coating of oil on the scissors’ blades and edges to prevent rust, especially if you live in a coastal area, use the scissors in a humid environment, or want to store them for a long time.
Wash Gingher Kitchen Shears by hand–never in the dishwasher. Dry immediately.
